Job Overview 

You will be responsible for the hardware design and system implementation of the next generation biometric devices, modules, and systems.  This will include full life-cycle, starting at concept and continuing through specification, design, bring up, debug, test, and release to production.


This role reports to the Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder of Identity Devices.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Directly responsible for design and development of world class biometric products via in-house and ODM design engagement.

  • Design, implement, evaluate and test, hardware for product integration and evaluation, reference and customizations.

  • Provide technical leadership and coordinate project deliverables with other team members.

  • Work closely with product / system goals and translate them into hardware requirements.

  • Develop hardware specification documentation, generate and/or oversee schematic development and layout of the printed circuit board, and perform critical component selection based on performance, cost, and feature tradeoffs.

  • Research and understand data sheets and application documentation for various MCU and biometric components and translate these into functional, high-performance designs, incorporating SW and testability into the design.

  • Drive and perform high-level investigations within the area of hardware integration during the entire product lifetime.

  • Manage and work closely with technology vendors and software teams to create an optimal solution.

  • Manage and work closely with ODM and vendors to ensure timely deliverables of samples and final products along with RMA’s.

  • Adapt to different tool-chains and EDA systems  to maximize compatibility with ODM or vendor systems and/or minimize cost. (Eagle, KiCAD, MG, etc.)

  • Simulate results as needed to meet product requirements (for e.g. power).

Qualifications, Prior Experiences & Expected Behaviors

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

  • 5 years of professional experience as a hardware designer and/or integrator

  • Excellent PCB design, layout, component analysis, measurement and tuning skills

  • Experienced in debugging hardware related issues

  • Experience of driving subcontractors and vendors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent in English

  • Experience from international relations/working abroad, etc.

  • 10+ years of engineering or technical hardware management experience

  • Working knowledge of project management processes and procedures
